The heart of the system is a robotic line integrated with Bovone ELB vertical edgers, designed to process flat glass sheets while combining precision, consistent edge quality and high productivity. The robot automatically handles glass loading from the rack, transfers the glass between the various processing stations and unloads the finished piece, ensuring order, safety and operational continuity. In a standard configuration, this type of line can operate at speeds of up to 6 m/min, maintaining consistent polishing quality thanks to automatic wheel wear compensation systems, which ensure repeatability and uniform results over time.

After the polishing process, the line can be configured with a vertical drilling unit, integrated by Bovone according to specific application requirements, to perform holes, milling operations and complex machining. This solution effectively meets the needs of sectors such as shower enclosure production, glass doors, partition walls and furnishing applications, where geometric precision and high aesthetic quality are essential. Depending on the system configuration and processing mix, the line can achieve a productivity of up to 30–35 pieces per hour, including drilling operations.

The process can be further completed by integrating a Bovone vertical washer, allowing the glass to exit the line fully processed and perfectly clean, ready for subsequent stages such as assembly, tempering or directly packaging. Integrating the washing process directly in line eliminates unnecessary handling and reduces overall production cycle times.

One of the key strengths of Bovone solutions is the tailor-made design of each system, based on the customer’s actual production mix. Each line is sized according to volumes, glass types, number of holes and cycle times, with the option to include intermediate buffers to balance polishing and drilling speeds and avoid bottlenecks. This approach makes it possible to efficiently manage both standard production and highly variable batches, while maintaining high levels of productivity and flexibility.

From an operational perspective, integrated automation significantly reduces labour requirements, improves operator safety and increases finished product quality, thanks to process repeatability and precise control of every processing stage. The result is a modern, reliable and scalable line, designed to support the growth of glass processing companies.

With these robotic solutions for polishing, drilling and washing, Bovone offers an advanced and integrated approach to flat glass processing, providing a high-performance alternative to traditional vertical CNC centres and meeting the needs of a market increasingly focused on productivity, quality and flexibility.
